Abstract
Recently we experienced a case of rhinolith in the left nasal cavity without any other specific complications.
A 16-year-old boy was first seen on August 3, 1966, suffering from nasal obstruction on the left side with a malodorous mucoid discharge. The patient stated that his symptoms began two years and six months previously, since that time he has complained of occasional sneezing and bloody serous discharge.
Anterior rhinoscopy revealed a yellowish gray, elliptical, globular and hard object, and scanty amount of a leaking bloody mucoid discharge in the left nasal cavity, the anterior portion of which was almost completely occluded by the mass.
Following application of local anesthesia, the mass was removed with the use of a hook and nasal forceps with serrated jaw, and this measured 2.5 cm by 1.8 cm by 1.3 cm and weighed 2.0 gm approximately.
The patient was able to breathe without a sense o¡Ì obstruction, free from the, malodorous discharge and recovered with good condition.
